The garden is a very important part of our house that’s why we need to keep it tidy and clean, but there are many accessories that help us with this housework and among them we find the garden hose. There are some facts we must consider when we are in the market and need to buy a garden hose, some of these facts are: verify the attachments, it means that if we notice that the hose is damaged, loose or appear cheap we shouldn’t consider the idea of buying it. We also need to check the quality by bending the hose; in case we notice that the tool is difficult to bend we should put it aside; but if we notice it bends properly without any noticeable effect on the hose, then we are sure it’s a good brand. Hoses also bring a UV certification, stating how much UV light they can support, the higher, the better. The last thing we must do, is to check the thickness of the hose, a thick one is better since it will support more water pressure and won’t split. Having a hose means we also need to have accessories that can make it work better or that make our job more comfortable, for example fittings, some people still don’t know which the best option is: brass or plastic. Well the ones who know about garden care and accessories would agree that the best for our hose are the brass fittings, since they are more practical and resistant to water. In case our hose stays on the reel, then plastic fitting will work just fine and maybe all you need; since here, we are not using our garden hose on a regular basis and that’s why we don’t need to invest in quality fittings. What we recommend here in case of buying brass fittings is not to leave them under the sun since, as it is metal, it will heat up quickly and could get damaged. |
There are some levels of care our hose will need, first of all we can’t let our pets to play with it, we all know that when we have pets they use to tangle with it and eventually will find our hose punctured or damaged. To avoid this problem we advise you to store it in a reel, this is a great way to keep it out of the pets, helping it to maintain its shape and keep the rubber from damaging. And the other important thing we must do is to keep it away from the sun, this light will probably damage the material of the hose no matter what quality is, that’s why we need to find a fresh location, under a roof or into a cottage. |
