When we talk about a word processor, we are speaking about a software instrument that give us the chance to perform the word processing activity in no time and with the least of the human errors; word processing is, basically, the possibility of creating digital text documents by means of a word processor software. Word processing is also related to a sort of advanced techniques, and its first steps took place during 1970; it was also used by online computers which used personal devices that had keyboards. This programs started to evolve with the time, from text based editors (mostly used by programmers and computer professionals) till what we know today, intelligent devices for computer users at a reasonable cost with the addition of small printers. All these facts, evolved, led us to the introduction of machines dedicated to perform the activity of word processing. These word processing machines were used at the beginning by typists, specially those who were working in centralised typing pools, where other type of workers used to send handwritten notes with the aim of being transcript into documents that would later be printed and returned for reviewing.

The results of these machines were extraordinary and profitable: people achieved a faster typing speed as a result of electronic keyboards, and they have the benefit of being assisted by a word processing software with functions such us spell and grammar real time checking. By 1990, the word processing pool and typing had vanished, the cause was the evolution of the word processing software, now it was not only a machine capable to write and correct sentences, it had also added a program that allowed us to use graphic applications.

Now we count with programs that help us to create and manipulate images, choosing colours and different features. The evolution from typing by the use of mechanical devices to electronic word processing systems to personal computers (the conventional and laptops) provided companies several of commercial opportunities. The construction and develop of this system allowed all companies to become strong and grew in a way they couldn't even imagine.
The art of word processing refers to text manipulation such as: footnote numbering, keyboards and the number of each page, contents that has their sections with their page numbers, mail merging, etc.

Years ago the activity of word processing was only limited to write and correct sentences, but as time went by, with the developed of this system and is applications, now we can not only write letters or documents, also watch movies, use the internet, manipulate images, etc. In a way, the modern word processors took software elements from other technologies, as, for example, the ones that were born with the internet browsers. And we can say that nowadays a word processor is less expensive that years ago, its evolutions led its cost reduction; giving us the chance to have one on our own. We can also affirm, that with the apparition of the word processing the economy also changed, became more automatic, our life and background can be found in a word processor. Anyway, computers are and will always be evolving, today we can interact with many people around the world by doing just on click with the mouse; there are thousand of predictions for the near future and these devices are included. Today we are allow to write documents and design graphics, tomorrow we’ll be able to perform activities that are beyond our understanding.
